CHATFIELD STATE PARK

HOW DO YOU GET THERE?

  • Take C470 west to the Wadsworth exit.
  • Go south on Wadsworth until you come to the Chatfield Reservoir west entrance.
  • Enter through the gate, pay your entry fee and turn on to the road heading south.
  • The road will eventually curve to the east.
  • Continue for approximately 1/2 mile until you come to the dirt road.
  • Turn right (south) and you'll immediately see the gravel pit on your right.
  • There is only a small area for parking so if the area is full you will need to turn around and travel to the opposite side to the paved road from which you turned.  There is a large parking area for your use.

Please note: IT IS ILLEGAL TO PARK ALONG ANY ROAD. THE RANGERS STRICTLY INFORCE THIS POLICY AND WILL QUICKLY PROVIDE YOU WITH A NASTY TICKET.

WHEN DO YOU DIVE?

When you sign up for your open water training dives an A-1 crewmember will let you know the times of your dives.  In addition, your instructor will be in contact and give you all the juicy details.

WHAT HAPPENS ONCE YOU GET TO THE SITE?

Once you've unloaded your equipment and parked your car an A-1 crewmember will fill you in. This will include: a site orientation, dive briefing and before you know it you'll be blowing bubbles.  It's not the Caribbean but it's close to home, economical and fun.

WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING?

You're not going camping so you really don't need to bring a lot from home.  We recommend the following:

  • Dive gear
  • Tarp to lay your equipment on
  • Food
  • Plenty of drinking water
  • Chair to sit on
  • Sunscreen
  • Towel
  • Possibly a coat for those chilly days
  • Logbook
  • Camera to capture those unforgettable moments

WHEN TO PICK UP YOUR DIVING EQUIPMENT?

You are welcome to come by the dive store and pick up your rental gear  (BCD, Regulator, Gauges, Alternate Air Source, Weight Belt, Weights, Wet Suit, Dive Bag and Tanks) any time after 3:00 pm on the preceding Thursday or after 10:00 am on the preceding Friday.  Please return all of your equipment no later than the day after your open water training dives - clean and dry please.  Note: We do not provide mask, snorkel, booties, fins, wetsuit, BCD or Regulators for open water training dives. These items can be rented.
